Founded by Head Designer Charl van Heerden, Uniqwa Collections draws inspiration from the natural world & cultures from around the globe. Their designs bring contemporary interiors together with traditional techniques, creating furniture that feels refined yet connected to its origins.

Behind each Uniqwa piece is a network of skilled artisans, many working within small, remote communities around the world. Uniqwa works closely with these makers often using techniques that have been passed down through generations.

Their approach is rooted in the traditions of the cottage industry. A single piece may pass through several specialist hands, with each stage completed by a craftsperson skilled in that particular discipline. This slower, more considered way of working gives the finished furniture an authenticity & individuality that simply cannot be replicated by factory production.

It is this human element that we love about Uniqwa beds. The maker remains part of the story.

Their beds range from upholstered designs in rich leather & tactile fabrics to timber and four-poster forms, each bringing its own character to a bedroom. Across the collection, the emphasis is on creating pieces that feel grounded, timeless & beautifully considered.

They specifically state that they do not use rainforest timber or materials sourced from endangered habitats, instead seeking sustainable alternatives & responsibly managed sources. Traditional, low-impact techniques are also used alongside modern methods to minimise waste & unnecessary chemicals.
