Our Linen

We work with a small, family-owned business based in Shenzhen, China, who share our commitment to thoughtful, ethical production. They prioritise fair treatment & fair wages for their employees, creating positive working conditions that benefit both their makers & their communities.

Our sewing workshop is situated in a remote village in Hunan Province. In many rural communities, people are forced to leave their homes & families to seek work in Guangdong. Our makers established a workshop within the village, providing local employment & allowing mothers the opportunity to remain close to their children while earning a wage to support their families.

It is important to us that the hands behind our pieces are valued, and that the environment in which they are made reflects the same care & consideration that goes into each finished piece.

Our linen is expertly crafted from 100% European flax, sourced from renowned regions of France & Belgium. We chose linen not only for its beautiful, natural character, but for the way it embodies the qualities we value — longevity, simplicity & a respect for the resources from which it is made.

Flax requires relatively little water to grow, & the entire plant can be utilised during production, helping to minimise waste. Linen is also naturally biodegradable, making it a considered choice both for the home & for the environment.

Our linen carries OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification, meaning it has been tested for harmful substances. Our linen is also GOTS Certified, reflecting rigorous environmental & social standards throughout the textile-making process.

Once our linen reaches the hands of our makers, that same philosophy of considered production continues. Fabric offcuts are carefully recycled, while usable remnants are donated to local craftspeople, giving these beautiful materials another purpose & minimising waste.

From European-grown flax to the hands that cut, sew & finish each piece, there is a story of craftsmanship behind our linen. A slower, more thoughtful way of making — creating pieces designed to be lived with, loved & appreciated for years to come.
