Our Rugs

Our rug collection is a celebration of traditional craftsmanship, natural materials & the beauty of things made slowly.

Each rug is handcrafted within artisan weaving communities in India, a region renowned for its centuries-old rug-making traditions. Here, the making of a rug is more than a process, it is a craft shaped by generations of knowledge, with skills passed from one pair of hands to the next.

Behind every piece are skilled artisans who have spent years mastering their craft. From preparing & spinning the fibres to dyeing, weaving, washing & finishing, each stage calls on a different understanding of the material & a practiced hand. It is this depth of knowledge, patience & human touch that gives a handmade rug a character that simply cannot be replicated by a machine. 

The weaving communities themselves are an important part of this story. Our rugs are made within communities where traditional rug making continues to provide skilled work & preserve a craft that has been practiced for generations. Ethical production is supported through initiatives that create employment opportunities for women & contribute to education for children & families within these weaving communities. 

The making of each rug is a considered process, one that cannot be rushed.

Natural fibres are carefully prepared, with many yarns hand-carded & hand-spun before weaving begins. Depending on the design, our rugs are hand-knotted, handwoven, handloomed or braided, techniques that require skill, patience & precision, with some pieces taking days or weeks to complete. 

For our hand-knotted pieces, skilled weavers work strand by strand, tying individual knots around the warp threads to slowly build the rug. Other designs are woven on traditional looms or braided by hand, allowing the texture & natural character of the fibres to become part of the finished piece. 

Once woven, the craftsmanship continues. Each rug is carefully hand-washed, gently worked with traditional wooden paddles & naturally dried before being finished entirely by hand. The pile is trimmed, the surface refined & the edges carefully bound before the finished rug is inspected. 

It is this human touch that gives our rugs their soul. Subtle variations in texture, colour, weave & finish are not imperfections, but traces of the hands that made them, ensuring no two rugs are ever quite the same.
